In 2006, we published William Bailey on Paper, a catalogue of drawings and prints completed within the last fifteen years. William Bailey on Paper accompanied an exhibition which traveled to the Alexandre Hogue Gallery of The University of Tulsa, to the Philbrook Museum of Art, Tulsa, and to the Wichita Art Museum. As the catalogue from 2006 only reproduced works on paper, we decided to publish a companion catalogue. This publication, William Bailey on Canvas, reproduces a selection of Bailey's paintings dating from 2000 to the present and is published on the occasion of our exhibition: William Bailey, October 18-November 24, 2007.
I particularly would like to thank two major contributors to this exhibition: the writer, Terry Teachout, who has written the insightful and sensitive introduction to this catalogue, and of course the artist, William Bailey, who created the exceptionally beautiful works which grace these pages and our exhibition.
