I have known John's work for over twenty-five years, and I have lived with John's paintings. For me the paintings and works on paper are simply at first glance as beautiful as a Leonardo drawing or as intimate and personal as a Beatrix Potter illustration. But over time, the work opens up, constantly evolving. And for those who know John, the drawings and paintings do indeed evolve over time in the studio, sometimes taking years to complete.
